The same-day Spot News Writing and Spot Photography competition was held the afternoon of April 10. Students were asked to bring their cameras and interviewing materials to the Society of Professional Journalists Roundtable. Each student had 2 hours to submit an "on-the-spot" story and/or photograph to be judged by faculty in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.
Each first-place winner received a certificate, plaque, and a $50 gift voucher from The Bookie, the WSU Students Book Corporation. Second-place winners received award certificates honoring their achievements. Winners were notified by mail.
